CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Chief Minister of Delhi has directed government officials to prepare a comprehensive firefighting master plan aimed at strengthening emergency preparedness, improving response systems, and enhancing urban safety infrastructure across the national capital.

The proposed master plan is expected to focus on modernizing firefighting equipment, expanding fire station networks, improving coordination among emergency agencies, and identifying high-risk zones in densely populated and commercial areas. Authorities are also likely to emphasize better building compliance standards, fire audits, and faster emergency communication systems to reduce response times during critical incidents.

The move comes amid increasing concerns over fire safety in rapidly expanding urban environments, where congested infrastructure and unauthorized constructions often complicate rescue operations. Officials have reportedly been asked to study existing gaps in preparedness and recommend long-term solutions that align with Delhi’s growing population and infrastructure demands.

Experts in disaster management have welcomed the initiative, noting that metropolitan cities require updated firefighting frameworks capable of handling residential, industrial, and high-rise emergencies simultaneously. Improved training, technology integration, and public awareness campaigns are also expected to form part of the broader strategy.

The initiative reflects a wider push toward strengthening urban resilience and ensuring that emergency services are equipped to handle evolving safety challenges in one of India’s busiest metropolitan regions while improving coordination, prevention systems, and citizen preparedness standards.
