CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi. Delhi Police have made extensive security arrangements for the proposed INDIA alliance rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. In view of the possibility of a large number of people attending the programme, the entire area has been divided into 14 security zones. Around 200 CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the rally venue and nearby areas. Police have made special arrangements for crowd management, traffic control and maintaining law and order.
Under the security plan, police personnel will be deployed at the entry and exit gates of Ramlila Maidan. Security arrangements will be in place at designated points to check people arriving for the rally. Additional forces will be deployed at sensitive locations, while senior officers will oversee the entire management. Activities in and around the ground will be monitored through CCTV cameras so that immediate action can be taken in case of any suspicious activity.
In view of the rally, a special plan has also been prepared to keep traffic moving smoothly on surrounding roads. Police have arranged for route diversions for vehicles and parking management as required. Members of the public have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid possible congestion.
The rally is being organised in the context of questions raised by the opposition against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and protests over issues related to the electoral process. Opposition parties have put forward their objections over the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list and allegations of alleged vote theft. It is also necessary to keep in mind the positions of the Election Commission and the ruling parties on these allegations. Delhi Police say maintaining security and public order during the event will be the priority.
