CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi. To provide relief from long queues at liquor shops in Delhi, the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has launched the ‘Delhi Liquor Booking’ mobile app. Through it, customers will be able to choose their preferred brand, make online payment and book orders in advance.

However, the system will not provide home delivery of liquor. After booking, customers will have to visit the relevant shop and collect their order within 48 hours.

At present, the online booking facility is available at 208 liquor shops operated by DSIIDC. More than 700 liquor shops operate in Delhi under four government corporations, but for now, shops of other corporations have not been linked to this service. The facility may be expanded later based on customer feedback.

Customers can view the available brands and bottle sizes on the ‘Delhi Liquor Booking’ app. After this, they will have to select their preferred shop, specify the quantity and make the online payment. Once payment is completed, the app will generate a QR code. The order can be collected at the shop after the code is shown and scanned.

Under Delhi’s excise rules, customers must be at least 25 years old to use the app. The prescribed quantity limit will also apply. One person can buy a maximum of nine litres of whisky and 18 litres of beer. There will be an option to cancel the booking before collecting the liquor, but once the product is taken from the shop, it cannot be returned.

According to DSIIDC, the aim of the initiative is to reduce crowding at shops and pressure on billing counters. Customers will be able to check available brands and prices and make payment before reaching the shop. However, it will remain mandatory to personally visit the relevant shop for final collection of liquor.
