CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / The Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine of AIIMS Bhopal is organizing various week-long programs to commemorate its 11th Foundation Day.

These events are being organized to showcase and strengthen the efforts made by the Department to advance education, research and healthcare. The programmes which will run till April 6, 2024, were formally inaugurated today by Prof. Ajay Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal.

Pro. Singh emphasized the department’s commitment to excellence in healthcare provision and medical education. A lecture on “Role of Oncopathologists in Management of Cancer: Past, Present and Future” was delivered by Professor Shubhada Kane, former Head of the Department of Pathology, TMH, Mumbai and Consultant, Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai.

On this occasion, a book “Clinical Laboratory Management” written by Dr. Shakti Kumar Yadav, Assistant Professor, Pathology and Lab Medicine, AIIMS Bhopal was also released. Earlier, the Head of the Department, Prof. Vaishali Walke welcomed the guests and shared the departmental journey and achievements of the last one year.

A series of events have been planned to celebrate the Foundation Week, which includes topics related to cancer diagnosis, management and awareness. An awareness and screening camp on cervical cancer was organized at Primary Health Centre, Gauharganj, Raisen in collaboration with Community and Family Medicine Department and Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In this connection, a special teaching session will be conducted for the postgraduate students by Dr. Shubhada Ken on the topic “Diagnostic Dilemma and Role of Supportive Diagnostic Techniques in Follicular Neoplasm of the Thyroid”.

In addition, various competitions are being organized including Rangoli competition focusing on the topics of breast cancer pathology, awareness and diagnosis and debate competition for undergraduate students.
