CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At the new Makhanpuram campus of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, a special lecture on “Developed India 2047 and the Role of Science Communication” was delivered by Prof. Anil Kumar Vadavathoor, Director of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication South Regional Campus Kottayam and a nationally awarded science writer. The lecture, organized by the Department of Journalism, was presided over by the university’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.G. Suresh, who emphasized the importance of science communication for the youth. He stated that it is our constitutional duty to foster scientific thinking among the masses.
The keynote speaker, Prof. Vadavathoor, highlighted the crucial role of science communication in realizing the dream of a Developed India 2047. He discussed the field of science communication and its challenges in detail and provided tips to make science writing popular among the youth. He also lamented the influence of political perspectives in science communication.
Before the lecture, Prof. Vadavathoor was welcomed by Prof. Suresh with a shawl, coconut, and memento. Subsequently, Head of Department Dr. Sanjeev Gupta welcomed Prof. Suresh with a shawl and coconut.
The lecture was attended by Dean (Academic) Prof. P. Shashikala, Registrar Prof. Avinash Vajpeyi, Director (Research) Prof. B.C. Mahapatra, Director (Associate Study Institute) Dr. Babita Agarwal, Associate Professor Shivkumar Vivek, Department Coordinator Dr. Satyendra Daheriah, Director (Training) Dr. Jaya Surjani, Director (Women Development Cell) Dr. Garima Patel, Director (Admissions) Mr. Shalabh Srivastava, and campus mentors Dr. K.
