CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced a major overhaul in the NEET-UG examination system following the recent paper leak controversy. The government confirmed that from next year, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) will gradually transition to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format to enhance transparency, security, and fairness in the examination process.
The announcement comes amid a nationwide crackdown on exam malpractices after allegations of leaked “guess papers” and irregularities in NEET-UG 2026 triggered public outrage among students and parents. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has already scheduled a re-examination for June 21, while the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues its probe into the leak network.
Pradhan reiterated the government’s “zero tolerance” policy against examination fraud and assured strict action against those involved. He also stated that additional reforms, including stronger monitoring systems and digital safeguards, would be introduced to restore confidence in India’s competitive examination structure. The move toward CBT mode is expected to minimize paper leak risks and modernize one of India’s largest entrance examinations for medical admissions.
