CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “Over 250 Railway Counters on West Central Railway Equipped with QR Code Payment Facility In an effort to promote cashless transactions through digital technology, West Central Railway is enhancing digital payment options under the guidance of General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay and the direction of the Chief Commercial Manager. QR code display machines have been installed at railway ticket counters to facilitate easy and transparent transactions.
Digital payment through QR codes simplifies and secures transactions. QR codes are already available for digital payments at food stalls, ‘One Station One Product’ stalls, and other types of stalls at West Central Railway stations. Additionally, digital payments are being made through hand-held terminals (HHT) allocated to ticket checking staff.
Previously, digital payments at reserved ticket counters were handled via POS machines. To further simplify the payment process for passengers, QR code devices have now been introduced at railway ticket counters, allowing payments via QR codes to obtain rail tickets. As part of this initiative, West Central Railway has installed QR code machines for digital payments at 254 railway counters, including 130 counters in Jabalpur division, 9 in Bhopal division, and 115 in Kota division.
Passengers can now scan and pay using their mobile phones when choosing the QR code option. The installation of QR code systems at all railway counters by West Central Railway is an ongoing process.”
