CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: As part of the two-day seminar on Tribal Studies organised by Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, the Official Language Department today organised a Hindi workshop at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) on “Digital Tools for Hindi Writing in Official Work”. The keynote speaker at the workshop was Anil Tripathi, Deputy Director (Official Language), Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh), Bhopal, and Member Secretary of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee-3. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by Acting Director Dr Manisha Srivastava and the keynote speaker.
In his address, Anil Tripathi gave detailed information on various digital tools and language technology-based e-tools developed by the Government of India to make official Hindi writing simple, effective and qualitative. He said that through these digital tools, notes, letters, office orders and other documents in Hindi can be prepared in a more accurate, simple and effective manner. He urged participants to use these tools regularly and increase the use of Hindi in official work.
Presiding over the programme, Acting Director Dr Manisha Srivastava said official work is being carried out in Hindi in all administrative departments of BMHRC. She said training workshops are organised from time to time to promote the official language Hindi in the institution. Employees are also being given regular training in Hindi typing and official Hindi, enabling them to perform their daily work in Hindi with greater efficiency.
Officers and employees from various administrative departments of BMHRC participated enthusiastically in the workshop. The workshop then concluded.
Professor Vivek Kumar of IIT Delhi addressed the closing session. He said the need of the hour is that the vice-chancellors of the 10 universities present at the seminar, who have expressed their desire to run courses on Tribal Studies, should first sign a memorandum of understanding with the Tribal Research and Knowledge Centre, New Delhi. This would enable them to receive the developed curriculum and other guidelines related to the development of study material, and help prepare the necessary course material for Tribal Studies.
The seminar also reached a consensus that universities should form a group among themselves to promote Tribal Studies by assisting one another in developing various courses, study material and textbooks. It was agreed that each university should establish a department or research centre for Tribal Studies and appoint a suitable experienced professor as nodal officer. For this work, it would also be necessary to appoint research associates and research assistants with expertise in Tribal Studies, and each university would make such appointments according to its respective Act.
It was agreed that the Tribal Research and Knowledge Centre should share a list of subject experts with all universities so that they can receive assistance in developing study material. Professor Vivek Kumar said that in the coming months, all universities would also have to constitute a Board of Studies on Tribal Studies.
The seminar emphasised that Tribal Studies should first be introduced as a subject at the undergraduate level, and postgraduate courses should be started thereafter. This would help in getting Tribal Studies included as a subject in UGC NET. Experts from various universities also agreed that consideration should be given to starting a student exchange programme.
The seminar concluded with Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University Vice-Chancellor Professor Milind Dandekar’s resolve to start courses on Tribal Studies and with a vote of thanks.
