PM Modi: “It feels great when a boy from an Indian village makes a name for himself on the global stage.”

Diljit: “Thank you, Ji.”

PM Modi: “Your family named you Diljit, and you keep winning hearts everywhere.”

Diljit: “We used to read in books, ‘Mera Bharat Mahan.’ Back then, I didn’t fully understand, but after traveling across the country, I now realize why India is called great.”

PM Modi: “Indeed, India’s vastness is a unique strength. We are a vibrant society.”

Diljit: “The greatest magic in India is yoga.”

PM Modi: “Those who have experienced yoga understand its power.”

Diljit: “I saw an interview of yours. For us, the Prime Minister’s position is huge. But behind this, there is a mother, a son, and a human being. This truth touches the heart deeply, as it reflects your bond with your mother and the sacred Ganges.”

Diljit Sings for PM Modi:

Diljit sang:

“Kainde kitthe hai tera Rab disda hi nahi,

Main keha akhaan band kar mehsoos kar.

Guru Nanak taa ang sang hai, tu hi bas gair haazir hai.”

PM Modi tapped on the table while Diljit sang, appreciating the soulful rendition.

Posts on X:

Diljit shared photos with the caption: “A fantastic start to 2025! Meeting PM Modi was truly memorable. We discussed many things, including music.”

PM Modi reposted, saying: “Had a wonderful conversation with Diljit Dosanjh. He truly embodies versatility, blending talent with tradition. We connected over music, culture, and many other mediums.”

Controversies Surrounding Diljit Dosanjh:

Diljit faces legal troubles following his December 31 concert in Ludhiana, where he allegedly promoted alcohol and drugs despite restrictions. Chandigarh Assistant Professor Panditrao Dharenwar criticized him for performing songs like “Thokeyan Te Kase” and “Patiala Peg.”

Diljit responded earlier, stating, “If the Indian government bans alcohol, I will stop making songs about it. If all states declare themselves alcohol-free, I promise never to sing about alcohol again.”

Previous Concert Disputes:

Diljit’s December 14 concert in Chandigarh faced objections due to potential traffic disruptions. Although the High Court allowed the event, the administration later issued a show-cause notice citing excessive noise levels, which reached 82 dB, above the 75 dB limit. The case hearing is scheduled for January 9.

Diljit described his meeting with PM Modi as a memorable start to the year, while PM Modi praised Diljit’s versatility and cultural contributions.
