CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal : Amar Singh Chamkila’ director Imtiaz Ali has shared insights about the professionalism of exes Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor during the shooting of their 2007 Bollywood hit ‘Jab We Met.’ Despite undergoing a personal breakup during the filming, both actors maintained their professionalism, ensuring that their personal lives did not impact their performances or the film’s production.

Imtiaz Ali expressed his admiration for the actors, noting, He told Galatta.com: “Most of the film was shot. There were two days after their so-called break-up that we had to shoot. They were absolutely professional. No blemish, nothing at all, whatever is happening in their personal lives.”

The director also reflected on the unpredictable nature of life in the film industry, comparing it to the stock market’s ups and downs. He remarked, “That time Shahid and Kareena were not doing supremely well. But these ups and downs keep happening in the lives of filmmakers and actors. But as filmmakers we don’t have to speculate like the stock market, judge what we think is right for a particular part and only that works. This is the learning of my life.”

‘Jab We Met’ turned out to be the last film in which Kareena and Shahid shared screen space as a couple. They had previously dated for more than four years. After their breakup, both actors found personal happiness elsewhere; Shahid married Mira Rajput, with whom he has two children, and Kareena married actor Saif Ali Khan, with whom she also has two children and has shared screen space in several films.

This story from the making of ‘Jab We Met’ not only sheds light on the professionalism of its leading actors but also on the emotional resilience that is often needed behind the scenes of major film productions. Imtiaz Ali’s account provides a peek into the complexities of managing personal relationships and professional commitments in the high-stakes world of cinema.
