CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A discussion on the topic “Opportunities and Challenges in Electronic Media” was organized at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCU). The discussion was hosted by the Department of Electronic Media and was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Vijay Manohar Tiwari.

The keynote speakers included MCU alumni currently working in various media institutions: Sanyukta Banerjee, Ankit Sharma, Akshay Srivastava, Ashutosh Ranjan Malviya, and Kshitij Pandey. The discussion was coordinated by Prof. Monika Verma, Head of the Department, and co-coordinator Ramdeen Tyagi.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari addressed the students and emphasized that a journalist must possess knowledge deep enough to understand complex issues. He remarked, “Journalism and cinema are like an open sky—there are no boundaries.” He described journalism as a realm of creation and creativity, encouraging students to continue reading books regularly.

Keynote speaker Sanyukta Banerjee stated that in the digital age, “your thumbnail is everything.” She advised students to use less AI in journalism and to rely more on their own intellect. Stressing the importance of originality, she said, “Content is king,” and warned that it can either build or break a journalist.

Speaker Ankit Sharma highlighted that journalism is a profession where one must maintain patience and mental strength. He encouraged students to believe in themselves and pursue journalism with full dedication.

The event began with an introduction to the discussion by Prof. Monika Verma. The session was moderated by students Ayush and Shubh Rana, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Senior Assistant Professor Arun Khobre. Senior Assistant Professors Rahul Khadiya, Mukesh Chaurase, Producer Manoj Patel, university officers, staff, and students were also present at the occasion.
