CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal/ Ujjain: NSS Foundation Day Celebrated at Samrat Vikramaditya University with Focus on Women’s Empowerment and Rights

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Foundation Day was enthusiastically celebrated at the Shalaka Diirgha Auditorium of Samrat Vikramaditya University, Ujjain. On this occasion, a discussion was organized on the theme “Constitutional Powers of Women and Legal Rights of Women”, which was attended by a large number of professors, students, and volunteers.

The event featured Prof. Jyoti Upadhyay, Head of the Sociology Department, and Prof. Kirti Patel of the Law Faculty as the main speakers. Prof. Upadhyay highlighted that while the Constitution grants women numerous rights such as equality and freedom, lack of awareness often deprives them of these rights. She suggested forming a special NSS volunteer team to raise public awareness about women’s rights.

Dr. Patel emphasized women’s empowerment, educating students on various constitutional articles and legal provisions. She noted that empowerment should not be limited to policies and laws but must become an integral part of societal mindset and behavior.

In the presidential address, Registrar Shailendra Sharma described NSS as a platform for nation service. Controller of Examinations D.D. Bedia and archaeologist Dr. Raman Solanki also highlighted the importance of women’s power and the role of volunteers.

Principal Prashant Pauranik of Kanya Mahavidyalaya described NSS as a medium for students’ personality development. The event was conducted by student Joy Chatterjee, and an Odissi dance performance was presented by Ananya Rath. Notably, the university’s NSS unit has achieved several national and international accolades, contributing significantly to society and nation-building.
