CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: District Health Committee and Task Force Meeting Held Under the Chairmanship of Collector Shri Kaushalendra Vikram Singh to Review Health Programs

A meeting of the District Health Committee and Task Force was held at the Collector’s office under the chairmanship of Collector Shri Kaushalendra Vikram Singh to review various health programs. The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Ila Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, officials from the Municipal Corporation, Women and Child Development department, nodal officers of health programs, and representatives from government health institutions.

During the meeting, information was shared about health services provided through outreach activities to shelter home residents, jail inmates, working women, newspaper hawkers, city bus drivers, conductors, and senior citizens. Awareness programs regarding organ donation and the National Child Health Program beneficiaries were also discussed. The Health Department shared updates on Gatekeeper training for suicide prevention, Dog Handler training, National Climate Change and Human Health training, and work done under PM Shri Air Ambulance and the Global Investors Summit.

Collector Singh emphasized that hospitals should be made patient-friendly to ensure no difficulties are faced by patients during treatment. He directed the Municipal Corporation and Health Department to work jointly to expedite the issuance of Ayushman cards for citizens aged above 70 years.

Collector Singh appreciated the outreach activities being conducted in Bhopal district to deliver health services to beneficiaries. He suggested strengthening the Sanjeevani Clinics further to reduce the outpatient department (OPD) load on major hospitals.

The meeting also highlighted that under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program, 77 gram panchayats in the district have been declared TB-free. A total of 1,198,789 Ayushman Bharat Niramaya cards have been issued. There have been 68,477 ANC registrations in the district, which is 110% of the target, with 89% of women registered in the first trimester. Under the Chief Minister’s Shramik Maternity Assistance Scheme, 10,983 women have benefited, and 14,380 women have been benefited under the Janani Suraksha Yojana. A total of 28,513 ANC tests were conducted under the Extended Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood Campaign. Safe abortion services are available at 118 health institutions in the district.

Regarding the Infant Immunization Program, MR1 coverage stands at 97%, MR2 at 92%, and full immunization at 110%. Special Newborn Care Units are operational at Jayaprakash District Hospital and Dr. Kailashnath Katju Hospital, where 1,036 children were admitted last year. Additionally, 785 newborns were admitted to Newborn Stabilization Units at Civil Hospital Bairagarh, Civil Hospital Bairasia, and Community Health Centre Kolar during the same period.

Seventeen teams are working under the National Child Health Program. Last year, free surgeries were performed for 66 cases of congenital heart disease, 12 cases of cleft lip and palate, 1 neural tube defect, 23 clubfoot cases, 3 cochlear implants, and 17 congenital cataract surgeries. Bhopal district has pioneered screening in private schools, with 175,925 children screened so far. Five Nutrition Rehabilitation Centers in the district have admitted and treated 791 children.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, stated that discussions were held on various programs including the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program, Leprosy Elimination, Tuberculosis, Blindness Control, Tobacco Control, among others. All hospitals were instructed to ensure Ayushman and Abha IDs are generated for every person over 70 years visiting OPDs.
