CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Bhopal division of the Indian Postal Department organized the district-level postage stamp exhibition, Bhopalpex 2024, at the Shankardayal Sharma Auditorium, hosted by the local Chief Postmaster General of Madhya Pradesh Circle. The theme of the event was “Developed India,” inspired by the 2024 calendar theme of the Government of India, “Our Resolve – Developed India.” This two-day exhibition of rare postage stamps witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of school students and distinguished citizens, who explored this educational and enriching event. The Postal Department regularly issues special covers on notable figures, prestigious institutions, and important events in the country and society.

A special cover was released on Sez University, a prestigious educational institution in Central India, during this occasion. Key attendees at the event included Chief Postmaster General Vineet Mathur, Postmaster General Jabalpur Region Brajesh Kumar, Director of Postal Services Pawan Kumar Dalmia, Head of Bhopal Postal Division J.S. Rajput, Executive Director of Sez Group Shivani Agrawal, and prominent philatelists from Bhopal, Arvind Khodke and S.H. Khan.

During the closing ceremony, the best stamp collections exhibited by philatelists across various categories were awarded, and all participants received prizes from the department. To ensure maximum participation of school children, essay writing, stamp design, and quiz competitions were held at the exhibition site, and the winning students were also awarded.

The exhibition displayed a diverse range of postage stamps on various colorful themes, including national flags of 200 countries, four rare stamps from 1948 featuring Gandhi, types of locomotives from around the world, stamps related to the Indian National Army, century-old postcards from the Bhopal Estate, stamps showcasing Buddha’s life from birth to Nirvana, India’s space missions from 1962 to 2024, and covers and cancellations featuring Olympic champions from Major Dhyan Chand to Manu Bhaker.

In his concluding remarks, Chief Guest Vineet Mathur highlighted the significance of such exhibitions and emphasized the need to organize more events throughout the year to promote philately among the masses. He also congratulated the Bhopal division for successfully organizing the event.
