CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A general body meeting of the District Panchayat Bhopal was held in the assembly hall under the chairmanship of President Ramkuwar Naurang Singh Gurjar. During the meeting, Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Bhopal, Ila Tiwari, presented the agenda with the permission of the chair and discussed the points in detail. The President proposed the passage of the Women Empowerment Bill, which was unanimously approved by all members.
District Panchayat Vice President Mohan Singh Jat raised concerns regarding the shortage of drinking water in rural areas during the intense summer. He sought information about the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department’s tap water scheme and proposed that non-functional tube wells be repaired and proper drinking water supply be ensured in rural areas.
District Panchayat member Chandresh Suresh Rajput highlighted an issue from his ward, alleging that in Gram Panchayat Amarawat Kala, large-scale illegal excavation was carried out in the Kerwa River under the pretext of deepening an “Amrit Sarovar.” Thousands of dumper loads of मिट्टी were excavated using heavy machinery and sold without permission or royalty. He mentioned that a complaint was made to the mining department, following which machinery was seized. He demanded clarification on action taken and called for an investigation into similar activities in Gram Panchayats of the Kolar region, where soil is allegedly being sold under the guise of pond deepening.
Members also discussed various agenda points during the meeting. For the first time, a complaint box was installed at the District Panchayat office in Bhopal, allowing officials, employees, public representatives, and rural citizens to submit written complaints. The complaint box was inaugurated by President Ramkuwar Naurang Singh Gurjar along with other members.
In an achievement highlight, Surjeet Singh, a student of the Government High School in Gram Panchayat Kalara of rural Bhopal, secured 490 out of 500 marks and achieved the 10th rank in Madhya Pradesh.
District Panchayat President and CEO Ila Tiwari, along with district members, honored Surjeet Singh and acting Principal Pushpendra Rawat by felicitating them with garlands.
The meeting was attended by District Panchayat President Ramkuwar Naurang Singh Gurjar, Vice President Mohan Singh Jat, members Vinay Singh Mehar, Rashmi Avneesh Bhargava, Vikram Baleshwar, Chandresh Suresh Rajput, Ganga Bai Milal Malviya, CEO Ila Tiwari, District Education Officer Narendra Kumar Ahirwar, DPC in-charge Ravi Shastri, and officials and staff from various departments including PHE, education, health, horticulture, women and child development, PWD, social justice, forest, rural engineering services, and electricity.
