CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Singh reviewed the drinking water supply of all districts through video conferencing. He instructed the CEOs of all districts, Chief Municipal Officers, and concerned officials that drinking water testing must be conducted daily and that there should be no negligence of any kind in this matter. He also directed that complaints related to water supply received on the CM Helpline should be resolved immediately.
Commissioner Singh instructed the officials of Rajgarh, Sehore, Vidisha, and Raisen districts to conduct drinking water quality tests and surveys of old pipelines related to the supply of safe drinking water. If there is any scope for replacement or repair, it should be carried out immediately. He said that testing of all water treatment plants falling under each district should be conducted in coordination with urban local bodies, and their monitoring should also be ensured.
Commissioner Singh also reviewed the testing being carried out by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in the districts. He directed all CEOs to mandatorily inspect the drinking water system during district panchayat visits. He emphasized that drinking water testing is compulsory and that testing of drinking water from hand pumps should also be carried out immediately. All officials were instructed to pay special attention to the cleaning of water tanks in their respective districts.
In the next review meeting, Commissioner Singh directed all officials to provide accurate information regarding drinking water testing, supply systems, and the number of water storage structures (dams) or other sources in their districts.
Commissioner Singh also reviewed the availability of safe drinking water in rural areas. He sought information on water supply commencement schemes under the Bhopal Division. He obtained details from Water Corporation officials regarding villages with drinking water availability in the Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore, and Rajgarh districts of the Bhopal Division. The Commissioner directed that the operation and management of water distribution within villages should be carried out by Village Water and Sanitation Committees.
