CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In a meeting held in Bhopal by Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Singh with representatives of recognized political parties and officials, a review was conducted of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work of the electoral rolls. Divisional Commissioner Singh instructed political party office-bearers and officials that after the draft roll publication on 23 December, all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) should be given proper training for the next phase, including the handling and disposal of claims and objections, so that voters do not face any inconvenience. All Booth Level Officers (BLOs) must ensure that all notices are duly served and that every voter is given two to three opportunities for hearings. For this purpose, joint training should be organized for BLOs and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to enable them to work with better coordination.

Divisional Commissioner Singh discussed the SIR work in detail with representatives of all political parties, taking comprehensive feedback one by one. All political parties expressed satisfaction with the SIR work being carried out in Bhopal district and appreciated the efforts of the BLOs and the entire district administration team. He emphasized that for the purification of the electoral rolls, the SIR team, political parties, and the voters of Bhopal must collectively ensure that no voter’s name is left out and that a 100 percent accurate draft roll is prepared, which is the responsibility of everyone.

Collector and District Election Officer Kaushalendra Vikram Singh briefed the meeting on the actions being taken under SIR in the district. It was informed that under SIR, 100 percent of a total of 2,125,908 enumeration forms across all seven विधानसभा constituencies of the district have been digitized. Under this process, the Enumeration Forms (EF) of 1,681,325 voters have been digitized. In the district, a total of 5.79 percent of voters fall under the “Other Mapped” category, while 444,583 voters are included in the ASDR list.

To review 30 percent of the voters included in the ASDR list, a Special Intensive Revision campaign was conducted. Under this campaign, 525 officers and employees of the district, including the Collector of Bhopal, the Municipal Commissioner, and all Additional Collectors, carried out door-to-door visits to cross-verify cases of deceased, shifted, absent, and duplicate entries. During this exercise, the Collector personally visited 20 households, interacted with voters to obtain factual information, and prepared verification reports (panchnamas).

Collector Singh informed that in the upcoming phase, help desks have been set up in all 85 wards of Bhopal district to address claims and objections, and arrangements have been made to ensure that these help desks will be the primary points for hearing such cases. He also appealed to representatives of all political parties and the voters of Bhopal that the ASDR list has been uploaded on bhopal.nic.in. Voters who have not yet submitted their enumeration forms have been advised to contact their respective BLOs to ensure the inclusion of their names in the electoral roll.
