CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Lucknow. Former Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal has announced that she will enter politics after resigning from the administrative service. Mittal, a 2013-batch officer, shared details of her next step in a video message posted on social media on Tuesday. She said she would not join any political party, but would begin her political journey along with ordinary people.
Divya Mittal said that during her administrative service, she realised that despite rules, approvals and funds being available, the problems of common people often remain unresolved. She referred to issues such as construction of schools, bad roads, use of government resources and the future of students. She said the purpose of entering politics was not merely to replace a leader, but to bring a change in the way work is done.
Describing Uttar Pradesh as her karmabhoomi, she said her political journey would begin from the state. Divya Mittal also said she would not do politics on the basis of caste equations and would keep people’s issues at the centre. She appealed to people to join this new political initiative.
Divya Mittal resigned on August 30, 2026, after nearly 13 years in administrative service. Her resignation was accepted in September, after which she left government service. Earlier, she had held important administrative posts in several districts, including Mirzapur and Deoria in Uttar Pradesh.
