CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chennai. Political exchanges between the Congress and the DMK have intensified after the DMK parted ways with the INDIA bloc. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore said parties that leave the alliance will regret their decision. He claimed that the INDIA bloc remains strong and that its constituents will continue to work together at the grassroots level.

Manickam Tagore said several programmes are being organised by the INDIA bloc between October 2 and 8. These include a Save Democracy march and a march by MPs to the Election Commission office. According to the Congress leader, through these activities the opposition parties will continue their political work at the grassroots level and prepare the organisational base for 2029.

Asked about the DMK leaving the alliance, Tagore said the Congress had not said that the DMK was not needed. He alleged that the DMK wanted to sit next to the BJP in Parliament and that this was why it distanced itself from the alliance. This is the Congress leader’s allegation, while the DMK has already said it has ended its alliance with the Congress.

The DMK, meanwhile, had decided to end the alliance after the Congress extended support in Tamil Nadu to actor Vijay’s party, TVK. The DMK had also sought separate seating arrangements for its MPs in the Lok Sabha. Despite differences between the two parties, opposition parties continue to cooperate on common political issues against the BJP.
