CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Delhi: New Delhi, October 21: The Department of Personnel and Training has put obsolete computers, electrical equipment and furniture up for disposal through the Government e-Marketplace, with the three categories carrying a combined recommended reserve price of about Rs 9 lakh.
Union minister Jitendra Singh joined the department's e-waste disposal activity on Wednesday under Special Campaign 6.0. He called for a systematic process that recognises the remaining value of unused equipment rather than treating it only as waste.
The IT inventory includes 152 desktops, 35 printers, eight scanners, three photocopiers and 59 UPS units. Electrical items include 52 air conditioners, four televisions, five refrigerators and 17 water dispensers. Furniture is covered separately.
Three auction notices were issued on September 30. Their reserve prices are not final auction receipts.
Singh also said scrap disposal across the wider campaign had generated around Rs 490 crore in its first 15 to 17 days. That campaign-wide figure is separate from the DoPT inventory. Secretary Rachna Shah and other department officials attended Wednesday's activity.
