CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Professor (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS, consistently promotes a culture of academic excellence and knowledge sharing among faculty and students. Under his guidance, AIIMS has achieved significant accomplishments on various academic platforms. Faculty participation in conferences and workshops not only enhances their skills but also keeps them updated with the latest advancements. Recently, Dr. Aakansha Chaudhary from the Medical Oncology and Hematology Department at AIIMS delivered a lecture at the 7th Master Class on Lung Cancer held in Mumbai. The event was organized by the Cancer Statistics and Research Foundation in Mumbai and was attended by cancer experts from across the country.
Dr. Aakansha’s lecture focused on “Management of Extensive Disease – Small Cell Lung Cancer.” She explained that lung cancer is the fourth most common cancer in India, and it comes in two types: Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, which constitutes 85% of all lung cancers, and Small Cell Lung Cancer, which accounts for 15% and is associated with smoking and is very severe.
Professor Singh believes that the availability of second-line and new drugs related to lung cancer in India will significantly impact the lives of patients with Small Cell Lung Cancer.
