CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Ajay Singh, the Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, consistently promotes a culture of academic excellence and knowledge-sharing among faculty and students. Inspired by Director Singh, faculty members have been delivering exceptional performances in various research initiatives.

Recently, Dr. B.L. Soni, Assistant Professor in the Department of Trauma and Emergency Medicine at AIIMS Bhopal, was honored with the first prize in the oral presentation category at the 64th Annual Conference of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMSCON 2024). The conference, held at AIIMS Jodhpur, brought together esteemed physicians and researchers from across the country.

Praising this achievement, Prof. Singh said, “Dr. Soni’s innovation can play a pivotal role in promoting organ donation. It will inspire people to donate organs while preserving the dignity of donors and helping save countless lives. AIIMS Bhopal remains committed to developing solutions that bridge the gap between science and humanity.”

Dr. Soni presented on the topic “Innovative Use of 3D-Printed Bone Scaffolds for Post-Donation Bone Reconstruction,” showcasing a unique technique to address challenges associated with organ donation. Highlighting the importance of organ donation, he explained that a single deceased donor can provide up to 20 different organs and tissues, potentially saving multiple lives. However, due to cultural beliefs and concerns about bodily disfigurement, many hesitate to consent to organ donation. Addressing this issue, Dr. Soni proposed using 3D-printed bone scaffolds, which preserve the natural structure of the donor’s body, safeguard their dignity, and alleviate the concerns of the donor’s family.
