CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Executive Professor Ajay Singh of AIIMS continually promotes a culture of academic excellence and knowledge-sharing among faculty and students. Under his guidance, AIIMS has achieved remarkable accomplishments on various academic platforms. Participation in different conferences and workshops by faculty members not only enhances their skills but also keeps them updated with the latest advancements. Recently, Dr. Ketan Mehra from the Urology Department of AIIMS completed a two-month clinical visit to one of Europe’s oldest universities, the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. During this visit, Dr. Mehra observed that patient care and management could be improved by integrating various specialties such as oncology, radiology, and pathology. He learned to use advanced techniques for urological disorders, as well as for cases like prostate cancer, bladder cancer, and kidney stones.
These advanced techniques included imaging methods, endoscopic procedures, and surgical procedures. The imaging methods involved MRI, CT scans, and ultrasound, while the surgical procedures included robotic surgery, where laparoscopic surgery is performed with the help of robots. Dr. Mehra also learned to use advanced laser techniques for stone management and other surgeries.
Dr. Ajay Singh of AIIMS stated that Dr. Ketan’s experience would help enhance clinical practices at AIIMS. By adopting these advanced procedures, strengthening educational programs, promoting research collaborations, and integrating new technologies, AIIMS will significantly improve patient care and benefit healthcare professionals. Prof. Singh congratulated Dr. Mehra on his achievement.
