Recently, Dr. Prateek Behera, Additional Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at AIIMS Bhopal, was honored with the prestigious Professor KE Wilkins Fellowship 2024 by the Indian Pediatric Orthopedic Society (POSI). The fellowship was conferred during the POSICON 2025 conference held in Ahmedabad.

The Professor KE Wilkins Fellowship was established in memory of the renowned pediatric orthopedic surgeon Professor KE Wilkins from Texas, USA.

Encouraged and supported by Professor Ajay Singh and the Head of the Orthopedics Department, Dr. Rehan Ul Haq, Dr. Behera applied for this fellowship and was selected after a rigorous selection process. Highlighting the importance of the fellowship, Professor Singh remarked, “The knowledge and skills Dr. Behera will gain during this fellowship will significantly enhance the treatment of complex conditions like Brachial Plexus Birth Palsy (BPBP). This is a proud moment for AIIMS Bhopal, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Behera on this achievement.”

During the fellowship, Dr. Behera acquired in-depth knowledge about managing BPBP at a leading center in India. His training included clinical evaluation of children, treatment planning, and learning various surgical procedures related to BPBP.

This updated expertise will enhance the treatment of children with BPBP at AIIMS Bhopal, ensuring better care and improved outcomes for newborns affected by this condition.
