CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Dr. Ruchi Singh, Professor of Physiology at AIIMS Bhopal, presented her research at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) conference held in Helsinki from June 29 to July 2, 2024. Her research, “The Relationship of Fibromyalgia Severity with Patients’ Mood, Sleep Quality, Quality of Life, and Autonomic Dysfunction,” provides new insights into the multifaceted effects of fibromyalgia on patients’ lives. Autonomic dysfunction occurs when there is a failure in the automatic functioning of the body’s systems.

Dr. Ruchi conducted this study on 100 patients suffering from fibromyalgia, examining the relationship between the severity of their pain and various aspects of their health. The study found that autonomic dysfunction varies widely among individuals and is not directly related to the severity of fibromyalgia. In addition to her work on fibromyalgia, Dr. Ruchi also presented research on “The Impact of Treatment for Head and Neck Tumors on the Autonomic Nervous System.” This research indicated a gradual increase in autonomic dysfunction in patients undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy after surgery for head and neck tumors.

Professor (Dr.) Ajay Singh, the Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, congratulated Dr. Ruchi Singh on her achievement.
