CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India E-Press / ITDC News, Bhopal: Dr. Ujjwal Khurana, Additional Professor at AIIMS Bhopal, proudly represented India at the 22nd International Congress of Cytology held in Florence, Italy. This prestigious global conference took place at Fortezza da Basso and brought together experts from around the world.

Director Dr. Khurana delivered an oral presentation on the topic “Evaluation of Fine Needle Aspiration in Molecular Diagnosis of Tuberculous Lymphadenitis.” The presentation was part of the session on head and neck infections, chaired by Immacolata Cozzolino and Zubair Baloch.

The research was conducted with the collaboration of AIIMS Bhopal’s Pathology and Microbiology Departments under a LOP-accredited project. Contributors included Rimjhim Rastogi, Anand Kumar Maurya, Alkesh Khurana, Prof. Vaishali Walke, and Ms. Antisha Tiwari. The team extracted DNA from archived FNAC slides and performed molecular tests to detect tuberculosis, yielding results comparable to CBNAAT tests.
