Pune: A startling incident linked to the police department has come to light in Pune, Maharashtra. A police constable, allegedly drunk, rammed his car into the main gate of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar’s official bungalow. The incident took place on Tuesday evening at the commissioner’s official residence in the Cantonment area. Police have detained the accused constable and started questioning him. There is no report of anyone being injured in the incident.
Accused of trying to run over security personnel: According to police, Constable Amol Bhise (42) was alone in the car. When he tried to enter the commissioner’s residence, security personnel deployed there attempted to stop him. It is alleged that he tried to run over the security personnel with the car and rammed into the main gate. Action has been taken against him under serious sections, including attempt to murder.
Accused had been suspended earlier: According to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the accused has had a previous record linked to indiscipline and has been involved in several matters. He was suspended in 2025, while he was reinstated in service in 2026. Officials also said he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Reason behind the incident under investigation: According to preliminary information, Amol Bhise had not received the posting he wanted in the recent transfer process of police personnel. This displeasure is being seen as a possible reason for the incident, though police are investigating it.
