CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Description:
The tragic Satya Niketan building collapse in Delhi has claimed the life of a young man from Durg, Chhattisgarh, leaving his family and hometown in deep grief. The victim, identified as Yuvraj Soni, was a student of Motilal Nehru College (Evening) and had reportedly returned to Delhi only three days before the devastating incident. His death has added to the growing list of families shattered by the collapse of the five-storey student accommodation in South Delhi.
The building, being used as a paying guest accommodation, collapsed suddenly in Satya Niketan on September 6, trapping several students and residents beneath the debris. The disaster ultimately claimed seven lives and left several others injured. Rescue teams from multiple agencies worked for hours to locate and evacuate those trapped inside the collapsed structure.
Yuvraj had reportedly been pursuing his education in Delhi and dreamed of becoming a Chartered Accountant. His family is now facing the painful task of bringing his body back to Durg. The tragedy has once again raised serious questions about the safety of private PG accommodations used by students in Delhi.
The incident has also prompted scrutiny of building safety standards, construction activity and regulatory enforcement in densely populated student areas.
