CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the able guidance of West Central Railway General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay and the direction of the Divisional Railway Manager, Bhopal Division is continuously striving to provide better facilities to authorized passengers and increase railway revenue.
As part of these efforts, a fortress-style ticket-checking drive was conducted at Narmadapuram station in Bhopal Division with the help of 24 ticket-checking staff. The campaign was conducted under the supervision of the ticket-checking staff, with the exits of the station barricaded to ensure that no passenger could leave without having their tickets checked.
During the ticket-checking campaign, tickets of passengers on 10 incoming and outgoing trains were inspected. As a result, 82 passengers were found traveling without tickets, from whom ₹42,110/- was collected as fare/fine. Another 97 passengers were found traveling with improper tickets, and ₹40,185/- was collected from them as fare/fine. Additionally, ₹1,000/- was collected from five passengers for traveling with unbooked luggage. Twelve passengers were fined ₹1,350/- for littering at the station, and they were advised to travel with proper tickets and refrain from littering.
In total, 196 cases were identified during the fortress-style ticket-checking drive at Narmadapuram station, resulting in the collection of ₹84,645/- in railway revenue from passengers traveling without tickets, with improper tickets, or with unbooked luggage.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria appealed to passengers to always travel with valid tickets. He emphasized that travel on waiting list e-tickets and platform tickets is not permitted. A valid travel or platform ticket is required to enter the platform. Passengers can also book their tickets themselves through the IRCTC website/app and UTS app.
