CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi. Counting of votes for the Delhi University Students’ Union, or DUSU, election 2026 began on Saturday morning. After polling, all eyes are now on the results for the four key posts. Security has been tightened on the Delhi University campus in view of the counting, with police and other security forces deployed.
Ahead of the election results, the Delhi High Court has issued a major direction. The court made it clear that after the results are declared, no victory procession will be taken out by any candidate, student, supporter or organisation. The ban will apply not only on Delhi roads but also on university campuses and hostels. Any violation of the order may invite criminal and administrative action, as well as contempt proceedings.
The High Court also expressed concern over violations of rules during election campaigning. The court has issued notices to 140 candidates and asked why financial penalties should not be imposed on them for violating election rules. It directed the police and university administration to ensure strict compliance with election-related rules.
Polling for the DUSU election was held on Friday. According to reports, the voter turnout this time was 40.46 percent. After counting, the results for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary will be declared. Security forces are reported to remain deployed during and after the counting.
