CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has carried out a major operation in connection with an alleged money laundering and investment fraud case linked to Amrit Group. The agency conducted simultaneous searches at around 17 locations in Kolkata and Indore in Madhya Pradesh connected to Amrit Group companies and promoters. The action was taken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to the investigating agency, some Amrit Group companies are accused of collecting money from people through various deposit schemes and assuring them attractive returns on their investments. It is alleged that investors later did not receive the promised returns and, in some cases, also faced difficulty in getting back their principal amount.

During the searches, ED teams are examining financial documents, banking records, investment-related papers and digital material. The agency is trying to determine how the money collected from investors was used and whether any activities linked to money laundering took place.

The search operation and investigation are currently continuing. The next course of action will become clear on the basis of documents and other evidence recovered after the ED’s action. The allegations under investigation remain allegations, and final legal conclusions will emerge only after the relevant process is completed.
