CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / Raipur : In a major development in the alleged ₹3200 crore Chhattisgarh liquor scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid on Friday morning at the Bhilai residence of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Baghel confirmed the raid himself via a post on X, stating, “Sahib has sent ED.”
This action follows ongoing investigations into the massive excise scam that initially amounted to ₹2100 crore but has now reportedly grown to ₹3200 crore. Earlier this week, ED also raided the premises of hotelier Vijay Agarwal, who is considered close to the former CM.
Sources revealed that during searches at Vijay Agarwal’s premises in Goa and Delhi, the ED seized ₹70 lakh in cash. Now with the ED’s direct action against Bhupesh Baghel, political tensions in the state have escalated. The Congress party has condemned the move, calling it political vendetta, while the ED maintains that it is acting strictly on financial irregularities.
The case is expected to gain national attention, with further legal and political repercussions likely in the days ahead.
