CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India Express / ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at AIIMS Bhopal hosted an educational visit for the students of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). The initiative aimed to enhance students’ understanding of forensic applications in medical and medico-legal contexts, providing them with practical insights into forensic science. This visit was made possible under the support and guidance of AIIMS Bhopal’s Executive Director, Ajay Singh, whose leadership played a key role in ensuring the success of this significant endeavor.

At the conclusion of the visit, both institutions pledged to strengthen their collaboration through future joint workshops, research initiatives, and educational exchange programs. The two institutions are also in the process of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further enhance academic and research activities. Prof. Singh emphasized the importance of this collaboration and expressed enthusiasm for future educational exchanges. He stated,
“This initiative is a crucial step towards strengthening ties between AIIMS Bhopal and NFSU. Our goal is to ensure that students gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical experience, equipping them to face challenges in forensic science and medico-legal practices.”

Dr. Arneet Arora, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, highlighted the significance of such visits in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical applications. One participant remarked,
“This visit helped us understand how forensic medicine complements judicial processes and public health.”

The visit began with a formal welcome by Additional Professor Dr. Atul S. Keche, who shed light on the department’s contributions to forensic investigations, medico-legal research, healthcare, and law enforcement. Senior Resident Dr. Divya Bhushan, along with Junior Residents Suhail, Shashikanta, Ajit, Diksha, Abarna, Krishna Gopal, and Arun, demonstrated various forensic techniques to the students.

Students were introduced to the integration of forensic science in medical investigations, including post-mortem procedures, trauma analysis, and toxicology assessments. A session on post-mortem techniques covered injury identification and cause-of-death analysis. Modern techniques used in toxicology analysis, such as detecting toxins and drugs in biological samples, and their significance in solving medico-legal cases were also explained.

The visit included an interactive discussion where faculty and students deliberated on emerging trends in forensic medicine, the role of advanced diagnostic tools, and interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex legal cases.
