CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the continuous monitoring of General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay, various meetings are organized from time to time on the West Central Railway to increase goods traffic and commodity-wise freight loading. In line with this, senior officers and staff of the Commerce and Operations Departments are making continuous efforts to increase commodity-wise freight loading in the three divisions of Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Kota under the direction of the Principal Chief Commercial Manager and Principal Chief Operations Manager. As a result, West Central Railway achieved 17.56 million tons of freight loading in goods traffic from April to July in the current financial year, generating revenue of ₹1,802.77 crore.
Notably, on the West Central Railway, commodity-wise loading primarily involves ten materials, which include 28% cement, 19% coal, 13% clinker, 13% food grains, 10% fertilizer, 5% iron ore, and 2% container loading, accounting for a total of 90% of goods traffic. There are over 120 goods sheds and sidings for freight loading on West Central Railway. From April to July, West Central Railway achieved better loading in several commodities, surpassing the targets set by the railway, as detailed below:
Coal loading reached 3.92 million tons, a 48% increase compared to last year’s 2.64 million tons.
Clinker loading reached 2.93 million tons, a 30% increase compared to last year’s 2.26 million tons.
POL traffic (Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants) loading reached 0.30 million tons, a 48% increase compared to last year’s 0.21 million tons.
West Central Railway continues to make consistent efforts to increase freight loading and railway revenue in goods traffic.
