CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 will be celebrated in Indonesia on Thursday, as the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted on the expected date. The announcement was officially made by Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs following thorough observation efforts across multiple regions of the country. The decision aligns with Islamic traditions where the sighting of the new moon marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal, leading to the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Religious leaders and astronomy experts confirmed that no reliable moon sighting reports were received on the evening of Tuesday, thereby extending Ramadan by one more day. As a result, Indonesian Muslims will observe a 30-day fast this year.

This development also means that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Indonesia on Thursday, March 27, 2025, with mass prayers and traditional festivities expected in mosques, open grounds, and homes throughout the country. Authorities have advised citizens to prepare for the celebrations while maintaining public order and safety.

Meanwhile, moon sighting results in other countries may differ based on geographical conditions and local observances, so Eid-ul-Fitr may be celebrated on different dates around the world.
