CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal: Ekta Kapoor played a significant role in conceptualising the contents of Indian television. Gradually, she ventured into film production and became the name behind popular movies such as Shootout at Lokhandwala, Shor in the City, Lootera, Dream Girl, and others. While most of her films have been successful, the producer has often had to face adverse reactions to the bold themes her movies dealt with. Recently, the female led film Thank You For Coming received mixed reactions, and the producer stated that it was indeed demotivating. And now, she is more concerned about how the audience will perceive her upcoming film, Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2.

In an interview with Variety, Ekta Kapoor expressed her feelings about how the audience in India received Thank You For Coming. She stated, “It (Thank You For Coming) has left a very strange pain in my heart because the way that film was and the kind of reception it got in India, vis-a-vis the reception it got overseas, I don’t know what happened.” He stated that the team went through a lot of “hate spamming” online and all this because “we attempted to discover and make a movie on female sexuality.”

Ekta and Rhea Kapoor co-produced Thank You For Coming, which stars Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role. It also included Shehnaaz Gill, Anil Kapoor, Dolly Singh, Kusha Kapila, Shibani Bedi, Pradhuman Singh Mall, Natasha Rastogi, Gautmik, Sushant Divgikar, Saloni Daini, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Karan Kundrra in the cast. The film received rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival but did not perform well in the Indian box office.

Ekta Kapoor is all set for the release of her film Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2. But the producer is concerned about the audience reaction, since this is a much bolder film than Thank You For Coming. “I can only imagine what’s gonna happen when LSD 2 comes. I think I’ll have to hide again,” she added during the interview. Love, Sex, and Dhokha 2 delves into the complexities of relationships and reveals the hidden aspects of modern-day love in the age of the internet. It is directed by Dibakar Banerjee and produced by Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. The film will be released on April 19, 2024
