CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University Inaugurates Three-Day Workshop on Employability A three-day workshop focusing on enhancing employability among students of open universities commenced at Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University (MPBOU). The event brings together 21 participants from 15 open universities across India, with international experts from Australia and Canada joining online.
The inaugural session featured Prof. Chandra Charu Tripathi, Director of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal, as the chief guest, and Sharanappa V. Halase, Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Open University, as the special guest. Prof. Sanjay Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of MPBOU, presided over the event, along with Registrar Sushil Kumar Manderia, who also served as the workshop’s convener.
Jointly organized by MPBOU, the Commonwealth of Learning (Canada), and the Commonwealth Education Media Centre for Asia (New Delhi), the workshop aims to address skill gaps and improve employability among students. SIMCA Director B. Shadrick also participated in the workshop.
Key Insights from the Workshop
Prof. Sharanappa Halase emphasized the importance of skill-based courses in open universities and the need for collaboration between academia and industry. He encouraged participants to share their learnings with students.
Prof. Chandra Charu Tripathi highlighted the need to focus on digital skills, MOOCs, language-based courses, and counseling programs. He stressed that employability requires developing both aptitude and attitude among students, aligning their skills with market demands.
Prof. Sanjay Tiwari called for networking among open universities to create job-ready graduates, emphasizing the role of soft skills and online courses.
