CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University organized various programs to raise environmental awareness. These programs included a rangoli competition, poster competition, and a speech competition on plastic pollution. Additionally, students of the university prepared seed balls, which will be sown in open areas after the rains.
Presiding over the program, Dr. Uttam Singh Chauhan, Director of the Academic Coordination Department, said there is a need to awaken environmental consciousness and redefine development. He shared with the students the scientific thinking behind environmental conservation through Indian traditions such as tree worship and Hariyali Amavasya (Green New Moon).
Registrar Sushil Manderia encouraged students to avoid single-use plastics and promote reuse. Meanwhile, Harshvardhan Tomar, Director of the Regional Centre Bhopal, emphasized the necessity of environmental protection in accordance with Indian culture.
Assistant Professor of Botany, Shailendra Singh, provided information on the severity of plastic pollution and the adverse effects of population growth. The program was conducted by Nidhi Rawal and coordinated by Hemant Keswal.
On this occasion, a large number of university officials, staff, and students were present, who reiterated their commitment to environmental protection.
