Shooter Esha Singh produced an impressive performance in the women’s 25m pistol event to win the silver medal. In the shoot-off for gold, Esha finished narrowly behind China’s Xiao Jiaruixuan. Esha scored a total of 38 points, while in the decisive shoot-off the Chinese shooter hit three targets and Esha managed two.
Esha was strong from the start in the final. After the regular contest and the initial shoot-off, she remained in contention for gold, but had to settle for silver in the final shoot-off. With this medal, another silver was added to India’s Asian Games campaign. In kurash, Pinki Balhara assured India of a medal by defeating South Korea’s Lim Garam 3-0 in the quarter-final of the women’s 78kg category. Pinki will now compete in the semi-final. This is India’s third assured medal in kurash at the Asian Games.
In boxing, Lovlina Borgohain entered the semi-finals by defeating South Korea’s Seong Suyeon 5-0 in the women’s 75kg quarter-final. With this, Lovlina has assured herself of a second consecutive Asian Games medal. She had won the silver medal at the previous Asian Games.
