CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: IIT Kharagpur Director Prof. Suman Chakraborty has advised students ahead of semester examinations to deal with exam pressure and maintain a balanced view of results. He said examinations are important, but they do not decide a student’s identity or future.
In his video message, Chakraborty told students that an examination only shows what they wrote on a particular day. It does not determine who they are or what they will become in the future. He advised students to trust their preparation, remain calm and focus on one question at a time during the examination.
The director urged students to get adequate sleep, eat properly and also look after their peers. He also said that a poor examination should not be treated as the final verdict on their ability. According to him, one bad examination does not mean a bad life, and no single grade can assess a student’s full potential.
His message comes at a time when discussions are underway in higher education institutions over examination pressure and student welfare following the death of a student at IIT Bombay. Prof. Chakraborty told students to seek help when the pressure feels too much and to remember that they are not alone.
