CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured farmers affected by floods that they will receive special Diwali compensation this year. The announcement was made during his recent review meeting with state officials, where he emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting farmers in times of crisis.
Fadnavis stated that the relief package will directly benefit those whose crops and livelihoods have been devastated by heavy rains and subsequent flooding. Alongside compensation, the government has also decided to extend existing drought concessions to ensure that farmers facing water scarcity are equally supported.
He highlighted that the state is working on a fast-track mechanism for disbursing funds, ensuring that farmers receive aid before the festive season. The CM also directed district administrations to speed up survey work and submit accurate reports of crop loss at the earliest.
This move comes as a reassurance for lakhs of farmers struggling with natural calamities in different parts of Maharashtra. By linking relief measures with the festive season, the government aims to provide not just financial aid but also a sense of security and stability to rural households.
Experts believe the timely announcement will boost farmer morale and help reduce rural distress, while also reflecting the administration’s proactive approach to agriculture and welfare policies.
