CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal /Maharashtra :Following the acquittal of all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led UPA government, calling the “saffron terrorism” narrative a fabricated and politically motivated ploy. In a statement posted on social media platform X, Fadnavis wrote, “Terrorism was never saffron, is not, and will never be!”
The Chief Minister claimed that investigative agencies during the UPA regime worked under political pressure, framing innocent people and maligning an entire religious community. The 2008 Malegaon blast had tragically claimed six lives, and for years, the accused were vilified based on the alleged “saffron terror” angle.
Leaders of the ruling Mahayuti alliance have now demanded a public apology from the Congress for what they describe as a deliberate attempt to defame Hindu society for political gain. The verdict has reignited a political storm with the BJP and its allies accusing the previous regime of misusing power to promote divisive narratives.
This landmark decision is being hailed by many in the ruling camp as a vindication of their long-standing claim that “saffron terror” was an invented term to serve short-term political interests.
