New Delhi: The scope of the investigation into the alleged Rs 842 crore drug and medical equipment purchase scam in the Delhi Health Department has widened. The role of people in whose names allegedly fake companies were formed to secure government tenders and receive payments is now also being examined. The investigating agency is trying to ascertain whether the named directors of these companies had real knowledge of the business and government payments, or whether their documents were misused.

According to the investigation and the chargesheet, five major companies linked to businessman Rajiv Rangila received about Rs 839 crore from the government exchequer. The agency is now tracing the transactions involving this amount and the final beneficiaries. For this, bank accounts of the companies, mutual financial transactions and transfers of money after payments are being examined.

The roles of Sunil Kumar and Laxman Singh of M Sahib and Sons Private Limited are also under investigation. The agency is probing their business links and financial transactions with F-Med Devices and other companies.

The alleged misuse of documents belonging to former employee Gyan Chand has also emerged in the case. It is alleged that his name was used to make him a director of a company. The agency is trying to find out who actually operated the companies and to whom the government money ultimately reached.

The case is still under investigation and judicial process. The allegations are yet to be proved in court.
