CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Training was organized at People’s Medical College for temporary family welfare methods “Antara and Chhaya.” On this occasion, nursing officers, community health officers (CHOs), and ANMs were provided technical training on temporary family welfare methods. The training covered the benefits, usage, and application methods of Antara and Chhaya.

The training event, organized by the Health Department of Bhopal district, was attended by Chief Medical and Health Officer Bhopal Prabhakar Tiwari, District Health Officer Manoj Hurmade, Dean of People’s Medical College Rajesh Gaur, Superintendent Colonel V. N. Khanna, Vice Dean Ruchi Kalra, and Gurpreet Kaur Nandmer. People’s Medical College management expressed their commitment to supporting the government in the family welfare program.

During the training, it was explained that Antara injections and Chhaya pills are safe and easy options for family welfare. The Antara injection, also known as DMPA, is an easy contraceptive method for women that provides protection from pregnancy for three months after administration. The first dose is given after a doctor’s screening, and subsequent doses can be administered by a doctor, CHO, or ANM. Along with the Antara injection, the beneficiary receives an MPA card, which records the date of the injection.

Chhaya or Centchroman pills are easy to consume and safe for preventing pregnancy. The first pill is taken on the first day of menstruation, and the next pill is taken three days later. For the first three months, the pill is taken twice a week, and from the fourth month onwards, it is taken once a week.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Bhopal Prabhakar Tiwari emphasized that field workers from all health institutions in the district are being trained to ensure the availability of these temporary methods to every targeted beneficiary. Antara and Chhaya were included in the family welfare program in 2016. They are highly safe, effective, and easy to use. The availability of Antara and Chhaya has been extended to sub-health center levels.

The training was conducted by Shakti Golaith, Jyoti Khare, Tabassum Khatoon, Pankaj Mishra, and Vinay Kumar Pathak, with technical support from Ipas and PSI organizations.
