Bin nij bhasha-gyan ke, mitat na hiy ko sool,” the audience was spellbound. Along with her, BMHRC employees and students appeared on stage dressed as famous literary figures such as Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Maithili Sharan Gupt, Sumitranandan Pant, Jaishankar Prasad, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, and Mirabai. The occasion was the Fancy Dress Competition organized under the Hindi Fortnight at BMHRC. Renowned fashion designer Mr. Mumtaz Khan served as the judge for the event. The competition saw a large number of enthusiastic participants.

During the fancy dress competition, Surbhi Rathore from the Microbiology department portrayed Mirabai, Ms. Anjali Satpute appeared as Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, and Mrinali from the IT department donned the attire of Amrita Pritam. Additionally, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing student Somlata Bundela portrayed Sumitranandan Pant, Kishan Lal as Maithili Sharan Gupt, Khushansh Chandra as Premchand, and Vikas Yadav appeared as Jaishankar Prasad.

Judge Mumtaz Khan, while encouraging all participants, said that few people gather the courage to take the stage in competitions. Performing on stage and winning is an even harder task. He shared, “Even now, when I go on stage, my body still trembles. The lights on the ramp are so bright that you can’t see anything, but you still have to appear confident.” He further congratulated the non-professional artists who participated in the competition, noting that it takes significant effort to transform one’s appearance and attire for a fancy dress competition. Participants who pay special attention to these details truly stand out.
