CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On his last working day, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari held a review meeting with officers and employees of the Bhopal Health Department. On this occasion, he emphasized the continuous delivery of healthcare services to the last person in society. During the meeting, all departmental officials and staff extended their best wishes to Dr. Tiwari for his new role under the National Health Mission (NHM). The government has promoted Dr. Tiwari to the position of Senior Joint Director in NHM, a responsibility he assumes from today. Manish Sharma has been appointed as the new CMHO of Bhopal in his place.
Director Tiwari stated in the meeting that healthcare services have been extended to labor shelters, night shelters, densely populated slums, old age homes, prisons, and other neglected sections of society, and emphasized the importance of regular follow-up in these areas. He also stressed the use of knowledge from training programs to improve the quality of healthcare services.
The CMHO office maintained a deep connection with social causes, undertaking several innovative initiatives such as organ donation awareness, cultural programs for children, mobile eye screening vans, online OPD appointments, and health camps. A total of 35 health institutions in the district received NQAS certification. Dr. Tiwari concluded by stating that maintaining the continuity of this ‘community-based approach’ should remain a priority for the department.
