A farmer practicing organic farming for 26 years becomes a source of inspiration

At Gram Parwalia Sadak, Collector Mishra visited the farm of progressive farmer Manohar Patidar. He inspected the 10-acre area where organic farming is being carried out through scientific methods, along with a vermi-compost unit, a gobar gas plant, and mango and chikoo orchards. Mishra said farmers like Patidar are an inspiration for other cultivators, as they are not only practicing organic farming themselves but are also providing training to other farmers. Collector Mishra suggested developing an organic cafe here so that people can connect with an organic lifestyle and farmers can get an additional source of income.

Instructions to ensure basic facilities in gaushalas

While inspecting the Swargiya Mithlesh Devi Gauseva Sansthan Gaushala located in Gram Panchayat Barkheda Bodar, Collector Mishra reviewed the upkeep of the cattle and the available arrangements. He discussed the requirements with gaushala operator Uday Singh Thakur and directed officials to provide drinking water, electricity supply and other basic facilities on priority.

Bhopal Horticulture Society to give farmers a new market

At Barkheda Bodar, the Collector also interacted with farmer Ram Singh Kushwaha and other farmers. Advanced cultivation of gerbera cut flowers is being carried out here on six acres through cluster-based polyhouse technology. The Collector advised the farmers to organize themselves and form the Bhopal Horticulture Society. He said that with the support of the government, a Farm-to-Home model can be developed to connect farmers directly with consumers, which would reduce the role of middlemen and help farmers get better prices for their produce.

Avocado and dragon fruit cultivation changing the rural economy

In the final phase of the tour, Collector Mishra inspected the avocado and dragon fruit orchards and the hi-tech nursery of young farmer Harshit Godha in Gram Mubarakpur. He gathered information about modern grafting techniques, production and marketing arrangements. Godha said that he is not only producing these high-value crops but is also supplying plants to other farmers through his nursery. Collector Mishra said that alongside traditional farming, adopting such innovation-based and high-income crops will give a new direction to the district’s agricultural economy.

Innovation, organic farming and value addition will increase farmers’ income

Collector Priyank Mishra said the efforts of such progressive farmers in the district are bringing positive change in the agriculture sector. He said modern technology, organic farming, value addition and direct marketing systems will play an important role in increasing farmers’ income and making agriculture more profitable and sustainable.
