CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju, stated that joint efforts will be made with the state government to promote film production facilities in Madhya Pradesh on national and international levels. He discussed this in a meeting with Shiv Shekhar Shukla, Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Principal Secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department, in Bhopal. Director Jaju mentioned that significant progress has been made in recent years in providing incentives and facilities to filmmakers in Madhya Pradesh. The facilities and benefits offered to filmmakers by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board will be promoted internationally by linking them with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s India Cine Hub Portal.

Director Jaju further stated that the state government’s portal will be linked to the India Cine Hub Portal. Efforts will also be made to ensure that the films facilitated by the portal can benefit from state incentives, encouraging more films to be produced in the region. He expressed concern over the decreasing number of cinema halls, noting that currently, Madhya Pradesh has only about three cinema halls per million people.

The Secretary also suggested steps to increase the number of cinema halls. He emphasized that the state government should take measures to establish small cinemas at the tehsil level. Jaju highlighted the significant impact of films on Indian society and the power of watching movies together in cinema halls. Shiv Shekhar Shukla, Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Principal Secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department, said that the state government has created a Film Facilitation Cell to encourage the film industry and film shooting. This cell coordinates with film production companies and producers. He also mentioned that a single window system has been established to make it easier for filmmakers to obtain various permits.

Shukla added that if the state portal integrates with the central government’s portal, it will increase the interest of international film production houses in Madhya Pradesh. During the meeting, a presentation was given on the state government’s efforts to promote film production, and officers from the Film Facilitation Office in New Delhi provided a presentation on the facilities being offered by the central government for film production.

Prior to this, Director Jaju conducted a review meeting with the heads of various offices of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting located in Bhopal. He also paid a courtesy visit to Governor Mangubhai Patel at the Raj Bhavan and met with Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Anurag Jain at the ministry.
