An FIR has been registered against an alleged fake doctor linked to Mahavir Hospital in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district. It is alleged that the person concerned was treating patients using the degree of a doctor from Jharkhand. The matter came to light after the QR code on the degree was scanned. During verification, the QR code showed another person’s name.

After a discrepancy was found between the degree and the information obtained from the QR code, suspicion arose over the person’s educational qualifications and documents. The investigation brought forward the allegation that he presented his identity on the basis of a Jharkhand doctor’s degree and carried out medical practice.

After the matter came to light, a complaint was lodged with the police. Following the FIR, police are now examining the relevant documents, the authenticity of the degree and the circumstances of its use. It will also be ascertained how long the accused had been treating patients at the hospital.

The incident has raised questions over the system for verifying doctors’ degrees and registrations in hospitals. All facts related to the case will be confirmed only after the police investigation is completed.
