Police have registered an FIR against 45 people in connection with placing a body on the road, blocking traffic and creating a ruckus on the Chaubepur-Babatpur route in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Traffic movement was disrupted during the protest, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists. An ambulance was also caught in the jam, obstructing the movement of a patient.
According to information, after a person’s death, family members and local residents placed the body on the road and began protesting. During this, they stopped traffic on the route and created a ruckus over their demands. Due to the road blockade, queues of vehicles formed on both sides. An ambulance also got stuck in the jam, affecting emergency services.
Taking the matter seriously, police have registered a first information report against a total of 45 people on the basis of the identification of those involved in the protest. Police are now investigating the case and examining the role of those involved in blocking the road.
The incident has once again brought to the fore the problem of disruption to the movement of the public and emergency services during protests.
